The Media Center of the Alliance Française of Suva has been refurbished in 2007, and new computer equipment was installed in early 2009. Although small in size with about 2500 documents, it aims to better satisfy the needs of its members: special attention has been given to the audiovisual collections, including about 150 DVD’s (fiction & documentary films, all with English subtitles) on offer to AFS members and students. The “Pacific” & “Contemporary France” sections have also been enriched, in particular with books in English. There is also an extensive collection of French novels in English. In addition, the 'Bande Dessinée' section has been reinforced with four tubs awaiting children, teenagers and those young at heart.
Opening Hours: (for borrowing)

Mondays: 2PM – 5PM
- Tuesdays – Thursdays: 9AM – 1PM; 2PM – 5PM
- Fridays: 10AM – 1PM; 2PM – 4:30PM
Three items may be borrowed at one time using the membership card:

a maximum of 3 books

a maximum of 2 CDs
-
a maximum of 1 DVD
(i.e. 3 books; 2CDs and 1 book; 1 DVD and 2 books)
Borrowing Time

Books: 2 weeks (with the possibility of 1 week’s renewal)

CDs: 1 week

DVDs: 3 working days
Failure to return books after notice being given will bring about automatic loss of membership, and incur a fine.
Subscription Rates (Fees)

Members of the AFS are automatically members of the Media Center.

AFS students can obtain, on demand, a “Media Center Card” (valid for the current year in which they are enrolled.

Students have to pay a refundable deposit of $40 per year (valid until 31st December of the year of subscription).
Deposits

AFS Members are allowed to borrow books without a deposit (only a $40 refundable deposit is applicable for borrowing CDs / DVDs).
- AFS Students are to pay a deposit of $20 if they want to borrow books only, or $40 to borrow CDs / DVDs.
- All deposits are refundable, provided that items are returned in good condition.
