Opening of the new AF Premises |
|
|
On the 22nd of April 2009, the Alliance Française of Suva celebrated the official opening of its new premises at 92, Ratu Sukuna Rd., Nasese. The event was marked by a large number of guests (over 300) and artistical and cultural activities of a high quality. A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR
Moving out, moving in, renovating; our Alliance Française has been jostled, dusted off, delocalised…nevertheless, classes have carried on. Thank you to all students and their teachers for their understanding. This construction site school will become over the months, I hope, your new linguistic and cultural meeting place, thanks to the efforts of the Alliance Française team, employees, volunteers and its committee, with the support of the French Embassy in Suva. I wish all our guests an excellent evening in the company of the artists who have chosen to celebrate with us the official opening of our new premises today, the 22nd of April 2009, opening placed under the sign of the frog, not the one of Jean de La Fontaine however, ours not willing to make itself as big as the ox! Patrick Dunand

Chased by termites, we flee at a giant's pace!
On the road again ! Latcho drom !
The French language transports us..
.
We must master natural forces;
beware of tropical depressions, Tsunami!
The (domesticated ?) cat watches...
We take hold of the premises. The muses watch over us...
Francophonie, frogofunny,
Hop it ! Hop over at the Alliance Française !
Welcoming of the guests (over 300 !) by Mrs and Mr Patrick Dunand, Director of the AF, under the gaze of a batrachian.
H.E. the Ambassador of France Mr Michel Monnier and Mrs Malini Raghwan, President of the AF of Fiji and Counsellor for Cooperation and Culture Mr Pascal Dayez-Burgeon shouldering Mr Patrick Dunand speaking to the friends of the AF.
